Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme Quarterly Newsletter March 2026

Saturday 4th April, 2026

The Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme has made strong progress in the first months of 2026, with key construction milestones reached and work continuing at pace across the wider flood defence network.

Recent achievements include the completion of the barrier’s substructure piling, alongside ongoing improvements to downstream defences at Chilton Trinity, Pawlett and Combwich.

At the same time, a Design Efficiency Review has helped refine the scheme to ensure it delivers long-term flood protection while providing best value for money.

With continued engagement across local communities and stakeholders, the project is moving steadily forward as a major investment in protecting homes, businesses and infrastructure across the area.
