Bumper Summer Update from the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme

Monday 30th June, 2025

The latest edition of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme newsletter captures what has been a notably active season for the project.

A new chapter begins with Ross Barton stepping in as Project Director, succeeding Jeanne Capey. With over two decades of service at the Environment Agency and deep roots in the area—starting as an apprentice flood defence engineer in Bridgwater—Ross brings valuable expertise and local insight as the construction phase gains momentum.

This issue shines a light on the broader aims of the BTB Scheme—not just in mitigating flood risk, but also in fostering a more sustainable and environmentally resilient future for Bridgwater and its neighbouring communities. It highlights recent advancements made throughout 2025, along with the initiative’s ecological and social impact.

Thanks to everyone for staying engaged and supportive.
