The Castle at Taunton seeks Event Coordinator to support growing calendar of functions

Sedgemoor Chamber member The Castle at Taunton is recruiting for a full-time Event Coordinator to join its team, supporting a busy and growing calendar of events at one of the UK’s most historic and prestigious 4-star hotels.

With a 40-year reputation at the forefront of British cuisine, The Castle at Taunton is also home to Brazz, its relaxed brasserie which has provided the blueprint for British brasseries across the country since 1998. From private dining and celebrations to corporate events, the venue is looking for someone who can help deliver memorable experiences for guests while maintaining the high standards the hotel is known for.

The successful candidate will bring strong organisational skills, experience in event planning and a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, working closely with clients, colleagues and suppliers to ensure every detail is taken care of. This is a permanent, full-time role with a salary of £25,000–£26,500 per year, plus employee discount.

The Castle at Taunton is one of the UK’s most historic & prestigious 4 Star Hotels, having been at the forefront of British cuisine for 40 years. We also operate Brazz, which since 1998 has provided the blueprint for British Brasseries across the country.

Event Coordinator Job Duties:

  • Creating event proposals which fit client requirements and presenting proposals by deadline
  • Maintaining a working relationship with vendors
  • Planning event aspects, such as seating, dining, and guest list
  • Delegating event planning tasks to other staff members where necessary
  • Demonstrating to clients strong knowledge of the venue and our offerings.
  • Taking clients on tours of our hotel.
  • Coordinating event entertainment, including music, performers, and guest speakers
  • Staying under budget while planning event specifications
  • Issuing invoices and collecting payments in a timely manner, and creating comprehensive and readable financial reports
  • Managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and organising vendors
  • Communicating with marketing team to create effective advertisements various events, and when necessary crafting marketing materials such as print and internet advertisements for individual events
  • Anticipating and planning for different scenarios
  • Creating sales opportunities for future events during client liaisons and during events, including possessing a strong working knowledge of the company to further these sales opportunities
  • Planning multiple events at once
