TALENTED ENTERTAINERS WANTED FOR 2022 CARNIVAL CONCERTS

Monday 7th March, 2022

Local talented entertainers are being sought by Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee to be ‘front of curtain’ acts at the 2022 carnival concerts.

Vocalists, musicians, comedians, magicians, dancers and all round general entertainers are wanted to appear in the popular show, which returns to the stage this year between Monday 3 October and Saturday 15 October following a Pandemic related two year pause. The 12 evening performances are expected to attract a sell-out audience of 4,500 people, and will take place at Bridgwater Town Hall.

The purpose of the front of curtain acts is to entertain the audience in between the performances by the 13 Bridgwater carnival clubs, and auditions for the highly prestigious spots will take place at Bridgwater Town Hall on Tuesday 24 May.

Anne Middleton, Secretary and Concerts Coordinator for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “We would love to hear from individuals and groups who enjoy performing on a stage in front of an audience, and who can entertain for a five minute slot at this year’s show. If our 2019 auditions are anything to go by, then the judges will have an extremely difficult task in selecting the acts that will go through to the concerts.”

Interested entertainers who think they have got what it takes and who would like to audition can apply by contacting Anne Middleton at enquiries@bridgwatercarnival.org.uk or by completing the relevant application form available from Bridgwater Carnival’s official website – www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk. Forms can also be collected from the Bridgwater Carnival Centre. Completed forms need to be emailed / posted back to Anne at: – 21 Somerset Road, Bridgwater, Somerset. TA6 5NT. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 17 May 2022.

At the 2019 carnival concerts, successful front of curtain acts included Sam Howes, Kevin Cripwell, Ann Palmer and Emily Palmer, Fox King Dance Academy, and Viva La Diva.

This year’s auditions are once again kindly sponsored by Anderson and Wall. The Bridgwater based garage, located in Church Street, offers one of the South West’s largest new and used scooter and lightweight motorcycle selections from a variety of leading manufacturers. In addition the popular garage sells, services and MOTs used cars and motorcycles. For further information contact Richard or Sarah Humphrey, or one of the team on 01278 423089 (www.anderson-wall.co.uk).
