Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to take advantage of the Go Green Scheme, a funded support programme designed to help Somerset firms move towards a low carbon, clean growth economy.

Created by Somerset Council and Balanced Energy Ltd and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the Go Green Scheme supports businesses to understand their energy use, reduce their carbon footprint and make practical changes that can also improve profitability.

At the heart of the scheme is a clear focus on energy efficiency. By optimising energy use, businesses can lower running costs and play their part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The scheme offers more than written guidance. It provides face to face support so that owners and managers feel confident starting and continuing their sustainability journey.

Support is tailored to each organisation. The Go Green team offers site visits to understand how a business operates, identify where improvements can be made and then follow up with comprehensive reports and hands on advice. Solutions are shaped around each business, from smart energy measures through to wider sustainability planning.

The Go Green Scheme aims to help Somerset businesses:

• Build resilience by making their operations more efficient and future focused

As a delivery partner, Balanced Energy, a member of Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce, is working directly with Somerset businesses through the scheme, providing practical expertise on energy and carbon reduction.

Funded places on the Go Green Scheme are available for eligible Somerset businesses, with support tailored to the areas they most want help with, such as understanding energy consumption, implementing renewable technology, reducing emissions or raising staff awareness.

Businesses can register their interest for a funded place by completing the Go Green Scheme online form, which asks for basic details about the organisation and its sustainability goals. Places are subject to eligibility criteria.
