S Roberts Group teams up with Somerset Road Safety to support Red Card 4 Drink Drive campaign

Monday 24th August, 2026

A LEADING waste management company is supporting Somerset Road Safety’s Red Card 4 Drink Drive campaign by helping to promote safer roads across the county – particularly around sporting events (August 2026).

Bridgwater-based S Roberts Group is working alongside Somerset Council’s Road Safety Officers to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving and to encourage motorists to plan their journeys responsibly.

We are very grateful to S Roberts Group for supporting our Red Card 4 Drink Drive campaign. By wearing our high-visibility vests on sites and across communities throughout Somerset, their teams are helping us reinforce an important road safety message to thousands of people.

Drink driving remains one of the most dangerous decisions a driver can make, yet it is entirely preventable. If you’re watching football, rugby, cricket or other sporting events and planning to celebrate, make sure your journey home is part of your plans. Choose a designated driver, book a taxi, use public transport, or stay overnight.

Together, we can give drink driving a red card and play our part in keeping Somerset’s roads safe for everyone.

Mike Smalley, Road Safety Coordinator at Somerset Road Safety

There is no safe amount of alcohol to consume before driving and choosing to get behind the wheel after drinking can have devastating consequences for drivers, passengers and other road users.

By supporting the initiative and displaying campaign messaging across its operations and community activities, S Roberts Group is reinforcing its commitment to road safety and helping spread a very important message across Somerset.

As a company with vehicles on the road every day, we understand how important road safety is, not just for our team but for everyone who uses Somerset’s roads. We are proud to support this campaign and help raise awareness of the risks associated with drink driving.

Our staff will be actively involved in promoting the initiative, wearing campaign high-visibility clothing and sharing the message with customers, suppliers and members of the public. If encouraging just one person to make a safer choice prevents an incident, then that is something worth supporting. Working together, we can help make our communities and roads safer for everyone.

Natasha Butcher, Office Manager at S Roberts Group

S Roberts Group’s wealth of experience spans nearly 100 years and it is one of the South West’s leading waste management companies. The company provides specialist waste management, recycling, plant hire, demolition and asbestos services for domestic and commercial clients across the South West.

Based in Bridgwater, Somerset, the third-generation family business is run by founder Sammy Roberts’ granddaughters, Beccy Roberts and Vicky Owens, and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental responsibility across its operations.
