Free online course helps Somerset business leaders think differently about growth

Friday 21st August, 2026

Somerset business owners and managers looking to sharpen their strategic thinking now have access to a free, entirely self-paced course designed to do exactly that. Help to Grow: Management Essentials distils the essential business concepts needed for growth into short, practical videos that can be completed at work, at home or on the move.

Created by the team of SME experts behind the established 12-week Help to Grow: Management Course, Essentials is made up of 17 bite-sized videos, each lasting five to seven minutes, totalling around two hours of content. The course is split into three modules: uncovering your business potential and setting goals, strategies for stepping up to the next level of growth, and turning ideas into action. Each module comes with supporting resources to help apply the concepts directly to your own business, and a certificate is awarded on completion.

The course is designed to suit business leaders at very different stages. It can help less experienced leaders build confidence and start thinking more strategically, give more experienced leaders a useful refresh on core concepts, and help rising stars and managers begin contributing more actively to their business’s success.

For busy business owners, finding time for structured learning can be one of the hardest parts of growth. A free course built around short, self-paced videos removes much of that barrier, offering genuine, practical value without requiring a significant time commitment.
