Somerset businesses invited to host free workplace blood pressure checks

Monday 22nd December, 2025

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local employers to take part in the Take the Pressure Off campaign, which offers free on site blood pressure checks for staff across Somerset workplaces.

The campaign is a joint initiative between Public Health Somerset and NHS Somerset. Businesses of all sizes are already getting involved by hosting pop up blood pressure sessions in break rooms, depots, offices and at staff training days. Sectors taking part include manufacturing, construction, retail, hospitality and logistics.

High blood pressure affects around one in three adults in Somerset and often goes completely unnoticed, as it typically has no symptoms. Many of the workplaces visited so far have reported that staff value the convenience of a quick check during the working day, particularly those who rarely visit a GP.

The workplace blood pressure sessions are:

  • Free, quick and confidential
  • Easy to set up in any meeting space, breakout room or reception area
  • Suitable for away days, wellbeing events, team briefings or shift changeovers

Employers who have hosted checks say that they have been well received by staff and contribute to a healthier, more supported workforce.

Organisations with upcoming staff events, large meetings or away days, or those who would like a standalone session on site, are invited to get in touch to discuss how the campaign can support them.
