Funded digital Skills Bootcamps open for adults and employers across Somerset and Dorset

Monday 6th July, 2026

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is pleased to share a funded digital training opportunity that could benefit both individuals and employers across Somerset and Dorset who want to build practical workplace skills in AI, automation and digital productivity.

Delivered by Cosmic, these Skills Bootcamps are designed to help learners build confidence with digital tools that can be applied straight away in the workplace. The 2 current programmes are AI for Workplace Productivity and Power Platform and Process Automation.

Both courses are delivered live online with tutor support, making them accessible for people balancing work and other commitments.

The AI for Workplace Productivity Skills Bootcamp is a 9 week, 60 hour programme delivered 1 day a week, from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. The next Somerset and Dorset cohort starts on 15 September 2026.

This course is designed to help learners understand how AI can support everyday work. It covers topics including generative AI, large language models, workflow automation, prompt writing, ethical use of AI and practical workplace applications. Learners will work hands on with tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, Excel Copilot and no code platforms to improve productivity, draft professional content, create visuals, automate tasks and turn data into useful insights.

The Power Platform and Process Automation Skills Bootcamp is also a 60 hour programme, delivered over 2 mornings a week. The next Somerset and Dorset cohort starts on 22 September 2026. Sessions run from 9.30 am to 12.30 or 1.00 pm and are delivered live online.

This programme focuses on Microsoft’s Power Platform and is designed to help learners build low code tools and streamline business processes. It includes training in Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agents and Power Pages, giving learners the chance to build business apps, automate repetitive tasks, turn live data into dashboards, create chatbots and develop secure, interactive websites without coding.

Both programmes are built around practical learning and include:

  • 60 hours of expert led Level 3 training
  • Live, hands on online delivery
  • Support from Cosmic trainers and mentors
  • A capstone project linked to a real workplace challenge
  • A strong focus on practical digital skills that can be reused and applied immediately

The bootcamps have been designed in consultation with employers to address real business needs and are particularly relevant for people working in administration, customer service, marketing, operations, business support, charities, SMEs and similar roles.

Funding support is available through the Skills Bootcamps programme.

For the AI Skills Bootcamp:

  • SMEs with fewer than 250 staff pay a 10% contribution of £235 per person
  • Large organisations pay a 30% contribution of £705 per person
  • Unemployed learners can access the course free of charge
  • Self employed learners can access the course free of charge

For the Power Platform and Process Automation Skills Bootcamp:

  • SMEs with fewer than 250 staff pay a 10% contribution of £225 per person
  • Large organisations pay a 30% contribution of £677 per person
  • Unemployed learners can access the course free of charge
  • Self employed learners can access the course free of charge

Both programmes are designed to lead towards a positive outcome. For employed learners this may mean a role with greater responsibility, a promotion or a change in job role. For self employed learners, it may mean gaining skills that help win more work. For unemployed learners, the bootcamps are intended to support progression into interview and employment opportunities.

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local employers and individuals to take a look now, especially as places are limited and the next Somerset and Dorset cohorts begin in September 2026.
