Free places available on Frome course helping people turn business ideas into reality

Monday 27th July, 2026

Enterprising Together, a hands-on course from Edventure, opens for enrolment this September, with funded places worth £2,500 available to Somerset residents at no cost

Anyone in Somerset sitting on a business idea they’ve never quite found the time or confidence to start now has a practical route to get going, with enrolment open for the next Enterprising Together course at Edventure in Frome.

What the course offers

Enterprising Together is a hands-on course for anyone with a business idea they’d like to bring to life, whatever their background, experience or stage of life. Rather than working through theory, participants spend each session developing and testing their own idea, building real momentum week by week. The course covers the core skills needed to start a business, including business planning, financial planning and branding, alongside practical support in shaping a value proposition and testing a minimum viable version of the idea with real customers.

No textbooks, prior experience or qualifications are needed, just curiosity, motivation and an idea worth testing. Participants leave with a clearer, more tested version of their idea, new practical skills, and the confidence and momentum to keep building it, all while being part of a supportive peer group working through the same journey.

Course details

The course runs one day a week on Fridays, from 9.15am to 2.45pm, starting 11 September 2026 and running through to 29 January 2027. It’s delivered in person at the Edventure Hub in Frome (BA11 2LE) and is open to anyone aged 18 and over, including those outside Frome or Somerset who can commit to the weekly commute.

Somerset residents who secure a funded place, worth £2,500, can take part at no cost, thanks to funding from Somerset Council. An early-bird price of £1,950 is also available for those buying a place directly.

Why it matters

For anyone who’s had a business idea but never had the structure, accountability or support to take it further, courses like this can be the difference between an idea staying an idea and it becoming a real, tested business. Past participants have gone on to launch community photography projects, garden design businesses, food waste initiatives and community interest companies across Frome and beyond, often crediting the course with giving them the confidence and momentum to act, not just the knowledge.

The course is facilitated by Colin Atkinson, an experienced trainer and coach who combines structured learning with empathetic support to help people push their ideas forward with clarity and confidence.

Get involved

Anyone interested in taking part this September is encouraged to book an informal call to find out more and check the course is the right fit, with no obligation to commit at that stage.
