A Sustainable Business is a Better Business

Tuesday 6th December, 2022

Friday morning, Fairfax Park turnstiles opened before sunrise, welcoming members of The United Club Business, an exclusive network event for Sponsors and Businesses whom have expressed an interest to support both Club & Trust.

Since launching, just autumn of last year it has had magnificent success, quickly becoming one of the most well attended business meets in the town. New partnerships have been formed, many shared they have gained and given business to partners directly from these events.

There is a true sense of community values aligning both Sponsors and Club, which is why the Club believes working together in a united fashion will strengthen business support and the local economy.

Along with Club personnel, guests heard from BE Net Zero Bridgwater Partners – Balanced Energy, discussing the importance for SMEs to understand their carbon footprint and demonstrate a clear plan on the journey to Net Zero.

The Club and Trust are delighted to partner with Balanced Energy through our new community led initiative “BE Net Zero Bridgwater” to support local businesses transition to a low carbon economy whilst supporting the local community. “A sustainable business is a stronger business.”

The morning marked the official launch of the Clubs “Reusable Cup Initiative” where by removing single use plastic cups from the bar, is one step further forward in the clubs journey to make a difference.

Making this significant shift will reduce the clubs carbon footprint by a whopping 58.1tC02e per season ! That’s’ the equivalent to a coach of 30 people travelling from Bridgwater to Wembley Stadium and back, 140 times!

Businesses have the opportunity to join the Club amongst others in the BENetZeroBridgwater community, can do so by registering their interest at www.BENetZeroBridgwater.co.uk

Attendees were also given the unique chance led by The Community Sports Trust with Gravity present. A live demo Gravity Sphero Taster to find out more about the newly launched “Innovative STEM Provision” the first in the South West, offered to local schools in Bridgwater.

Combining Football, Robots and Fun STEM learning, changes the way children learn coding, whilst developing key skills for the 21st Century.
