Free webinar helps Somerset businesses navigate the funding landscape

Tuesday 15th September, 2026

Whether a business is trying to manage cash flow, invest in new equipment, recruit staff, launch a new product or scale up, understanding the range of finance options available is often one of the trickiest parts of planning for growth. A free webinar from the Government’s Business Academy is aimed at making that process a little clearer.

Navigating the SME Funding Landscape: Strategies for Success is a free, on-demand webinar designed to help business owners understand the funding options available to them and identify the most appropriate solution for their needs. Running for 45 minutes, it covers the different types of business finance and funding available, working capital and cash flow considerations, funding through loans and alternative lenders, equity investment options, and the role of the British Business Bank. It also looks at what lenders look for when assessing applications, and how businesses can strengthen their own funding proposals.

For many SMEs, funding decisions can feel overwhelming simply because there are so many routes to choose from, loans, alternative lenders, equity investment, and knowing which is genuinely right for a specific business, rather than just the most familiar option, can make a real difference to how successfully that funding is secured and used.

The webinar is free to access at any time, and only requires creating a free account to sign in if you don’t already have one.

Alongside this free resource, Somerset businesses can also contact the Somerset Growth Hub directly for impartial guidance on funding, finance and wider business support opportunities, giving them a local, human point of contact to talk through their specific situation.
