Industrial Air Power team to climb Ben Nevis carrying a fridge for Bridgwater Royal British Legion

Thursday 30th April, 2026

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is proud to share a remarkable fundraising challenge being organised by Industrial Air Power, part of the Denholm Energy Services Group, in support of the Royal British Legion, Bridgwater Somerset Division.

On the 7th of May 2026, a team from Denholm Energy Services Group will take on Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, with one member of the team carrying a refrigerator for the full ascent.

Starting at 8:00am, or earlier if weather permits, the group will climb the Mountain Path to the summit of Ben Nevis, which stands at 1,345 metres.

This unusual challenge has been designed to raise awareness of mental health struggles within the Armed Forces community and to generate vital funding for support services. The fridge is intended to represent the heavy and often invisible burden carried by many veterans and serving personnel living with anxiety, trauma, isolation and other mental health challenges.

By carrying that physical weight to the top of the mountain, the team hopes to spark conversation, encourage support and shine a light on an issue that affects too many people who have served.

The fundraising target is £20,000, with all donations going directly towards supporting current and former members of the Armed Forces connected to the RBL Bridgwater Branch with their mental health and wellbeing.

Industrial Air Power has already helped the campaign make a strong start, with the JustGiving page currently standing at more than £4,500 raised from 76 supporters.

Bridgwater Royal British Legion has expressed its gratitude to Industrial Air Power for organising the challenge, which will also see Nick Pippard from the Legion taking part, alongside the IAP team and Tony Phipps, who will carry the fridge.

The campaign is encouraging people to support in any way they can, whether by making a donation, sharing the fundraising page with others, helping spread awareness of the cause, or even joining the team on the climb.

Those who would like to support the challenge can donate via the JustGiving page for Industrial Air Power fundraising for The Royal British Legion.
