Not Just Travel Wanderlust teams up with Rhode Lane Wanderers JFC to turn everyday travel into support for local youth sport
A conversation at a local networking event has led to a new community partnership between Chamber member Not Just Travel Wanderlust and grassroots football club Rhode Lane Wanderers JFC.
How a Networking Conversation Became a Community Partnership
A conversation at a local networking event has led to a new partnership between Not Just Travel Wanderlust and Rhode Lane Wanderers JFC.
Sam Smith gave a passionate presentation about Rhode Lane Wanderers JFC’s role in the local community. Grassroots sports clubs rely heavily on fundraising to provide safe, inclusive environments for young people. Theresa realised her travel business could offer something different.
A Simple but Powerful Idea
Through Partners in Travel, every holiday booked by club families through Wanderlust generates funds for Rhode Lane Wanderers, funding kit, equipment and player development at no extra cost to families.
“People are booking holidays anyway,” explains Theresa. “Why shouldn’t those bookings benefit local organisations that matter to them?”
By collaborating locally, support is kept within the community, strengthening both local sport and local business at the same time. This partnership is a great example of how networking is not just about exchanging business cards; it is about building relationships, spotting shared values and finding practical ways to make a difference.
How It Works in Practice
Club families have direct access to a personal travel consultant at times that suit them. They book any holiday – beaches, cities, cruises – exactly as normal. After travel, a donation is made to the club.
The model also works for school PTAs, charities and employee benefits programmes.
