New Hinkley Point C update highlights supply chain opportunities for local businesses

Friday 19th December, 2025

Where the project is now

Hinkley Point C is moving from the main civils phase into mechanical and electrical fit out, with around fourteen thousand people working on site. As this transition continues, there is ongoing demand for local and regional suppliers across construction, professional services, specialist equipment, training, facilities and future operations.

Live and future opportunities

The newsletter highlights several areas of interest for businesses:

  • Largest NDT contract in the UK A major Non Destructive Testing contract led by Bilfinger, with scope for companies who can support inspection, testing and related services.
  • Bylor subcontracts Main civils contractor Bylor continues to place subcontracts with regional suppliers and expects further work packages in:
    • Fit out trades for the Operational Service Centre and turbine halls
    • Demolition of temporary structures
    • Asset reuse and recycling as site demobilisation progresses
  • Long term contracts As Hinkley Point C prepares for operation, there will be opportunities around long term spares, maintenance and service contracts.

Make sure your business is visible

Businesses are reminded that:

  • You must be registered on the Hinkley Point C Supply Chain Portal to be considered for opportunities.
  • A portal “cleanse” is planned. Companies will be asked to update their entries within a four week window, and those with out of date contact details or inactive websites may be archived and removed from search results.

Keeping your profile accurate is essential if you want procurement teams and main contractors to find and contact you.

Events and feedback

The newsletter also reports on a recent Supplier Drop In event at the Hinkley Point C Satellite Delivery Centre in Bridgwater, where local firms met directly with ten key suppliers in an informal setting. Feedback from attendees described it as one of the best chances to meet decision makers and understand supply chain needs.

More engagement events are planned for 2026. Businesses interested in taking part can email hpcsupplychain@nnb-edfenergy.com.

Local and regional businesses are also invited to complete a Supplier Engagement Survey. Whether or not you have already worked on Hinkley Point C, your feedback will help improve communication and how future opportunities are promoted.

Skills and workforce support

For employers thinking about skills:

  • Training providers such as Train4All are offering site compliant qualifications, apprenticeships and Skills Bootcamps aligned with Hinkley Point C needs.
  • The Hinkley Point C Employment Affairs Unit and Jobs Service can help with redeployment, vacancies and apprentice recruitment and wellbeing.

Next steps for businesses

In summary, local firms who want to position themselves for Hinkley Point C work should:

  • Register and update their details on the Hinkley Point C Supply Chain Portal.
  • Respond to the Supplier Engagement Survey.
  • Attend supply chain events and drop ins where possible.
  • Explore training and apprenticeship routes to build their capability.
