S Roberts Group invests £300,000 in new walking floor articulated trailers to grow waste business

A LEADING Somerset-based waste management company has invested £300,000 in two walking floor articulated trailers to boost its capabilities and support the expansion of its transfer station and customer base (December 2025). 

Bridgwater-based S Roberts Group’s new trailers feature hydraulic walking floors and use an innovate aluminium slat system to automatically discharge materials like waste, woodchip and compost safely and efficiently.

Richard Butcher, Operations Director at S Roberts Group, explains: “This investment is a major milestone for us. Each trailer’s advanced hydraulic walking floor system ensures safe, efficient handling of bulk materials. 

“Paired with the Scania 560S SUPER 6×2 tag axle unit, we gain exceptional manoeuvrability, durability and fuel efficiency. These upgrades allow us to process larger volumes, reduce downtime and deliver smarter, more sustainable solutions for our customers.” 

The Scania unit offers a range of benefits that make it ideal for heavy-duty operations. Its versatility allows multiple configurations, ensuring it meets diverse operational needs. The advanced Super engine delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and emissions control, supporting sustainable transport goals.

In addition, the tag axle design provides better movement, improving handling in tight spaces and increasing ground clearance.

Built for durability, the unit withstands the rigors of demanding operations, reducing maintenance stops and maximising uptime.
