Government funded coaching and mentoring bootcamp offers employers a low cost way to strengthen their teams

Thursday 4th December, 2025

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce encourages organisations to take up heavily funded Coaching and Mentoring Skills Bootcamp places for their staff

Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce is inviting employers in our business community to take advantage of a government funded Coaching and Mentoring Skills Bootcamp, designed to build stronger workplace cultures and more confident leaders at a fraction of the usual cost.

The Coaching and Mentoring Skills Bootcamp runs for thirteen weeks, one day per week from 9.30 in the morning to 3.00 in the afternoon, and is delivered online via Microsoft Teams. Each group has ten learners, with funding currently secured for a total of twenty learners.

Participants will complete three units from the CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring programme. This is a partial completion and does not lead to a full qualification or formal accreditation, but it does provide structured learning at Level 3 with clear application back into the workplace.

The bootcamp is designed to be practical and supportive, with a strong focus on real workplace scenarios. Learners are given ready to use tools and templates that organisations can adopt, and the content is aimed at building confidence for effective coaching and mentoring conversations that contribute to a healthier, more productive workplace culture.

By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:

  • Guide colleagues through problem solving
  • Use impactful communication techniques
  • Plan development pathways and evaluate progress
  • Carry out the full cycle of a coaching or mentoring relationship

Government funding and employer contributions

Thanks to government support, most of the cost of the bootcamp is covered for eligible organisations. The level of funding depends on the size of the organisation.

  • Organisations with fewer than two hundred and fifty employees can receive up to ninety percent funding
  • Organisations with two hundred and fifty or more employees can receive up to seventy percent funding

This funding makes it possible for employers to invest in their people, improve retention and strengthen leadership capability, while keeping their own contribution to a manageable level.

Why invest in coaching and mentoring skills

The Coaching and Mentoring Skills Bootcamp is intended for organisations that want to:

  • Build stronger teams and improve communication
  • Support managers and aspiring leaders to have more effective one to one conversations
  • Introduce or improve coaching and mentoring in their organisation
  • Provide structured professional development that links directly to everyday practice

Employers who would like more information, including a week by week outline of the programme and details of how the funding works in practice, can email skillsbootcamp@ucscollegegroup.ac.uk
