Wembdon’s wildlife given a boost thanks to tree stump donation by S Roberts Group

Tuesday 25th July, 2023

A COMMUNITY project helping improve biodiversity in an area of Bridgwater has received a welcome boost thanks to a donation of tree stumps from a family-run waste management company (July 2023).

By donating several large stumps, S Roberts Group has helped Wembdon Parklands & Community Together (Wembdon PACT) upgrade its stumpery, so it can continue to provide a sustainable wildlife habitat.

Natasha Butcher, Office Manager at S Roberts Group, which is also based in Bridgwater, says: “We’re delighted to have been able to help Wembdon PACT with some tree stumps for its fantastic Wembdon Parklands Project.

“We originally donated stumps for its stumpery in 2019 and have now delivered some more for the community organisation to use in its exciting wildlife-friendly space. These will help with much-needed improvements to create a substantial and interesting biodiverse feature.”

Wembdon PACT set about improving the stumpery border just off Oak Apple Drive earlier this year and asked S Roberts Group for help with the site.

Lorna Edwards, Wembdon PACT’s Chairperson, says: “Wembdon Parklands & Community Together are immensely grateful for all the support S Roberts Group has given to the Wembdon Parklands Project.

“Since launching in 2019, the project has been a triumph with the general public and the wildlife, and we wanted to keep everything up-together to build on that success. The stumpery border was in need of improvements and we asked S Roberts Group if they could help us again.

“By supplying us with these large stumps, root balls and tree trunks, the Roberts team is helping us to improve the biodiversity of our stumpery, thus ensuring this habitat will continue to evolve and thrive and be abundant with wildlife.”
