Thatchers and the Mortgage Advice Bureau go the extra mile!

Friday 1st February, 2019

Thatchers Cider has teamed up with local Mortgage Advisor Rhea Isom, of Mortgage Advice Bureau to offer its employees free mortgage advice with regularly monthly mortgage clinics held at Thatchers HQ.

Having worked in Financial Services for over 10 years Rhea felt something was missing with the way the industry engages with its consumers and that a new approach was needed. “Life has become so busy and people have less and less time to put affairs in order, this generally means it gets forgotten which in turn leads to people paying £100’s extra each month because they haven’t reviewed their biggest direct debit, their mortgage,” Rhea says.
“Not everyone knows where to start when looking for information, a first time buyer for example will tend to lean towards advice of their parents or friends who have bought houses, but their experiences aren’t necessarily the advice they need nor may it be accurate.”

The idea of teaming up with a local employer was born so that employees could seek advice easily, without having to take time off work or using up their valuable free time on a weekend. “Thatchers was the obvious first choice as I knew it’s a family run business with good ethics and morals which likes to look after its staff, who else do you know gives their employees a turkey for Christmas??”

The first clinic took place in December and was an immediate success with the clinic needing to be extended by 3 hours! A further clinic will be taking place in January and follow ups to the initial clinics have already taken place.
“Sometimes we just need to step away from the norm and try something different and I’m delighted Thatchers was fully supportive of this idea. I genuinely could not have chosen a better first employer to work with.”
