South-West law firm, Amicus Law scoops double at industry awards

Monday 30th June, 2025

Amicus Law, a progressive, client-focused legal firm with offices across Devon, Somerset and Dorset, is celebrating a landmark win after taking home Employer of the Year and Paralegal of the Year, at the prestigious Devon & Somerset Law Society (DASLS) Legal Awards 2025, held on 19 June at the University of Exeter.

The Employer of the Year category is one of the most hotly contested awards of the evening, with many of the region’s most respected firms in the running. Amicus Law’s win is a strong endorsement of its commitment to staff wellbeing, workplace culture and the professional development of its people.

Claire Lovett, Managing Partner, says, “Winning Employer of the Year is hugely significant for us – not just because of the calibre of firms we were up against, but because it validates the values we’ve worked hard to embed across every part of the business. The legal sector can be demanding and our people give so much. To be recognised as a standout employer is something we’re incredibly proud of.

“I want to pay particular tribute to our Head of HR, Leanne Cornock‑Stark, whose work has been transformational since she joined us three years ago.”

The award underlines Amicus Law’s growing reputation not only as a legal service provider but as an employer of choice in the South-West, attracting talent across the region and setting the standard for what a modern legal workplace should look like.

The firm also took home Paralegal of the Year, awarded to JoJo Ziauberyte, in recognition of her outstanding professionalism, dedication and contribution to clients and colleagues.

JoJo says, “I’m truly honoured and deeply grateful to have been named Paralegal of the Year. This recognition is more than just an award – it’s a reminder of the journey, the challenges, the growth and the passion that brought me here.

“There have been long days and moments of doubt – but through it all, I’ve been lucky to work alongside some of the most dedicated, compassionate and brilliant legal professionals and friends. This award is not just mine – it belongs to every person who believed in me, challenged me and reminded me why I chose this path.”

Claire Lovett concludes, “To see our wonderful Paralegal of the Year, JoJo, pick up the first award of the evening was really wonderful. I am so proud of all the team at Amicus and the way they respond so positively to the day to day challenges of our work, so it’s great to see them recognised for their achievements by the judges.”

Just days after the wins, Amicus Law brought its team and their loved ones together for a company-wide Family Day – a free, summer fayre-style celebration featuring food, drink and a variety of activities for all ages. Held as a thank-you to staff and a fundraiser for the firm’s charity partner, Mind, the event reflected the inclusive, people-first culture that helped secure the Employer of the Year title.

The DASLS Legal Awards 2025 ceremony was held at the University of Exeter’s Great Hall. The event brought together legal professionals from across the region for a celebration of excellence, innovation and resilience in law.
