Solar panels installed at Bridgwater Gateway Premier Inn

Friday 17th May, 2019

Over 50 electricity-generating panels have been mounted on the roof of the hotel, which is due to be handed over to Premier Inn owners Whitbread later this month. Around 30 jobs will be created at the hotel, which is located on one of the prime road frontage plots on the £150 million, 100-acre mixed-use site near Junction 24 of the M5.

Bridgwater Gateway is the newest business park development on the M5 corridor. The first phase will feature a range of new office and commercial buildings, together with a new 150-bed, four-star hotel with conference facilities, in addition to the Premier Inn.

“We have a beautiful landscaped site which enjoys views towards the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and which provides all the practical needs and facilities of a business park, but in a setting that allows harmony and an increased diversity in the environment,” says Phil Wade, Development Manager for Bridgwater Gateway.

Occupiers at Bridgwater Gateway will also enjoy access to vehicle charging points, regular bus services, cycle storage and a nearby cycle route. All offices will have showers installed and there will be an on-site childcare nursery. Meanwhile there will be ample opportunity to stay active, with a trim trail, picnic area and table tennis and boules areas being planned.

Tim Davies, head of the South West office of global real estate advisor Colliers International, which is commercial property agent for the scheme, said: “This Premier Inn hotel will help to meet the huge demand for rooms in and around Bridgwater which is being created by the construction of Hinkley Point C power station, and the proximity of Bristol Airport.

“We look forward to continue working with Phil and his team as this transformative scheme takes shape.”

Premier Inn, part of the Whitbread chain, is the UK’s biggest hotel brand and is consistently rated the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain by YouGov. It has over 750 hotels with 70,000 rooms across the UK and Ireland, offering king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, and TVs with Freeview and Wi-Fi.
