Local Businesses seek Opportunities from Hinkley Point C

Thursday 26th January, 2023

The Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce hosted a business networking event at The Victoria Park Community Centre in Bridgwater, giving local businesses the opportunity to hear from the Project Manager for the Hinkley Supply Chain Team, Scott Jenkins.

The event, organised in partnership between the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce, Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset Chamber of Commerce, was attended by a range of businesses based in Bridgwater and the wider Somerset area who had an opportunity to network and meet one another before hearing from Scott Jenkins.

Hinkley Supply Chain Team Project Manager Scott Jenkins, discussed with businesses how his team manage the local supply chain and registered suppliers, and explained some of the benefits of joining the Hinkley Supply Chain, giving a overview of the process and some of the things to expect when signing up.

Also present to offer support and advice were Kinga Grabarczyk & Sophie Davenport from Sedgemoor District Council. Sedgemoor District Council works closely with partners to ensure that Sedgemoor is best positioned to bid and win contracts with HPC and create a long-lasting legacy for years to come.

Bridgwater Chamber Manager, Diogo Rodrigues said, “The Hinkley Point C project has created so many opportunities for local businesses and it was great to hear from some of those present about their successful journey through the supply chain to date. This is an enormous project which has seen some £4 billion spent directly with companies based in the Southwest and the employment opportunities have been huge, with some 22,000 people working on this project across the UK. The project has brought some significant economic benefits to the local area and will continue to do so.”

He adds, “If you’re a local business that hasn’t made the most of the opportunities from Hinkley Point C, then now is the time to sign up”.
