Consultation on Sedgemoor Playing Pitch Strategy and Sedgemoor Built Facilities Strategy

Monday 21st February, 2022

Sedgemoor District Council is preparing updated playing pitch and built facilities strategies to replace existing outdated documents in line with requirements set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.

Up to date strategies are essential to support the delivery of sport and recreation as set out in the adopted Local Plan, as well as supporting future funding bids for upgraded or new facilities. Strategies for sport and recreation provision also have clear benefits on wider health and wellbeing. Both documents will also form part of the evidence base for future local plans for the new Somerset Council.

The current documents have been prepared and endorsed by various sports governing bodies and Sport England. This public consultation is the final stage before the strategies are formally adopted as supplementary planning documents (SPD).

The document can be viewed on the Council’s web site at:

https://www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/article/4419/Current-Consultations

Hard copies of the documents are also available to view at the Councils Officers at Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3AR during normal opening hours.

Comments are requested on both documents by 5pm on Friday 18th March 2022. Please send comments to ldf@sedgemoor.gov.uk or post to the above address.
