Bridgwater & Taunton College to provide digital skills bootcamps for the Health & Care sector!

Wednesday 25th November, 2020

As part of the Government’s National Retraining Scheme, Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) have developed a 12-week bootcamp designed to help provide people who have recently been made unemployed or who are under employed with the opportunity to retrain in the health care sector. The aim is to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on employment by supporting people to reskill and upskill in the healthcare sector.

The bootcamps will focus on the skills required to support digital infrastructure and prepare individuals for progression into an Apprenticeship, further study or employment in the sector. These are one of two bootcamps with the other focused on welding within the construction sector.

Learners will gain technical knowledge in both health and digital as well as skills to complement employability such as, interview techniques and preparation for the world of work. On successful completion of the course, learners will be offered interviews from employers within the sector.

The health and care sector is growing rapidly, with the sector facing new and urgent demands. The impact of Covid-19 and changing patient expectations are accelerating the need to collaborate and innovate to expand access to affordable, quality healthcare. As a result, the skills needed are also changing, and employees must now, not only understand care, but also be familiar with digital technology.

The involvement of employers is crucial to delivering the skills that the sector requires and Health & Care employers can get involved in a variety of ways – by offering masterclasses, industry talks, mock interviews or a real job interview for an opportunity that is available at the end of the training.

The aim is to grow talent from the grassroot and embed a culture of care, compassion and excellence whilst delivering high-quality care for patients.

To apply for the 12-week digital health care bootcamp, please visit www.btc.ac.uk. Alternatively, if you are an employer operating within the health & care sector and are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please email Vanessa Hughes on hughesv@btc.ac.uk or call 01823 366362.
