Have another say on Sedgemoor’s Climate Action Plan

Thursday 5th November, 2020

Earlier this year, hundreds of people across Sedgemoor took part in a series of climate change workshops and information sessions, which fed into the Somerset-wide Climate Emergency Strategy. Feedback from this consultation has also shaped the contents of Sedgemoor’s Climate Emergency Strategy and Action Plan, which is now going into its final stages of publication and debate via the democratic process.  This means that there is now another chance to have your say on the plan.

From now until 20th November, some Sedgemoor residents will be randomly phoned by our partners Somerset Climate Action Network and Hope-Stone Research and asked to take part in a 10 minute telephone call.    Calls will be coming from a company called TeamsearchMR, who will be doing this work on Sedgemoor District Council’s behalf.  Other community groups, councillors and parish councils will be asked to complete an online survey.

The Climate Action Plan and Strategy have been created in line with the council’s climate emergency, declared early in 2019. It sets out how the council will work with partners, including Somerset County Council, Somerset Districts, individuals and community groups to identify ways to make Sedgemoor and Somerset carbon neutral by 2030, taking into account both production and consumption emissions. This plan will be employed in conjunction with the Somerset-wide Climate Emergency Strategy, which is due to be adopted this month.
