Final Pre-Season Preparations

Monday 15th August, 2022

PRESS RELEASE from Bridgwater United WFC

Monday 15th August 2022

As part of their final pre-season preparations the United squad headed to the South Coast on Sunday for training and team bonding.

The team first trained at the innovative and unique FTY Lab in Bournemouth. FTY is a hi-tech football training centre using the latest in training technology to enhance a player’s development. The first-of-its-kind centre boasts the same equipment as elite clubs such as FC Barcelona and Manchester City.

During the session the squad were visited by a special guest in the shape of former top flight footballer and manager, Harry Redknapp. Redknapp visited the training centre to watch the girls train, pass on his advice and wish the squad well for the upcoming season which starts on Sunday (21st August) away to Oxford United FC.

Following two hours of intense training under the watchful eye of Redknapp and the club’s staff the squad took to Bournemouth beach for recovery in the sea and a team meal on the beach at club sponsor’s El Murrino.

CEO, Adam Murry commented on the team’s training day, “The whole squad have worked tirelessly for over 2 months and I am really proud of the group we are assembling. Today was  a chance to work hard then reward all their efforts and a chance to be together as a group of people not just footballers. From our senior players leading by example to our young academy graduates thriving in our environment makes it a really exciting time to be a part of Bridgwater United and we are all really looking forward to going to battle on Sunday in the start of our league campaign. I would also like to thank the management at FTY for a fantastic set up and Harry Redknapp for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and meet the team”
