Bridgwater Chamber’s First-Ever International Women’s Day Event Smashes Stereotypes and Empowers Local Businesswomen

Wednesday 12th March, 2025

Chambers of Commerce have often been perceived as traditionally male-dominated, men in suits making deals behind closed doors. However, we’ve risen to the challenge of breaking this stereotype by hosting our first-ever International Women’s Day Celebration this year. The event drew a diverse crowd of women (and supportive men) eager to network, learn, and celebrate the achievements of local female entrepreneurs and professionals.

Breaking Barriers and Fostering Community

From the opening pastries and refreshments to the concluding cream tea, the day was filled with lively speaker sessions, interactive workshops, and an inspiring panel discussion. Topics ranged from marketing and finance tips to personal wellbeing and career growth. Attendees had the chance to ask questions, share experiences, and form genuine connections.

Bridgwater Chamber is proud to have come a long way in breaking outdated stereotypes, demonstrating that women in business can take centre stage in a traditionally male-oriented environment.

In the first event of its kind for us, it was an absolute pleasure to celebrate our incredible female business community. Next year’s event is already booked and we’re looking forward to taking it to another level.

Roger Smith, General Manager
