Junction 24
Events and Conferencing

As well as hosting the livestock market Junction 24 is a truly flexible space offering facilities for conferencing and meetings, music and entertainment, and exhibitions. With a dedicated Events & Conferencing Team we can offer a level of service that can deliver simple venue hire or a high level live show with all of the technical support and infrastructure required, including lighting, sound, staging and seating.
As an integral part of our estate, Sedgemoor Auction Centre opened its doors in January 2008 after a one-year build program. It is sited adjacent to a prehistoric animal gathering site which lends itself to this purpose-built, privately-owned auction centre we visit today. This auction centre replaces Highbridge and Taunton livestock markets as well as offering businesses, shops and offices a base and modern facilities to the local community.
Sedgemoor Auction Centre acts as a vital hub for livestock buyers and sellers alike in the farming community from across the UK. Partner managed by Greenslade, Taylor & Hunt, the livestock sales are a bustling ecosystem, used efficiently by thousands of people every week.
The Derek Mead Health Room was opened officially by HRH The Princess Royal on 15th October 2019 in memory of Derek Mead who built Sedgemoor Auction Centre as a facility for farmers to have free trade for their livestock. We are very proud to say that the health room is funded by the NHS and is professionally providing a much-needed service. Best of all, the health room is situated in an environment that allows farmers and country folk to still wear their wellington boots and feel comfortable in a market environment that they visit on a regular basis.

The owner, Katherine Hawke, also owns Hawke Barn; a wedding and special events venue beautifully renovated creating an intimate space for impressive entertaining for weddings, birthday celebrations or any special event or occasion. On site we have two 16th century barn conversions holiday cottages, located just off of Tiverton, makes for a perfect country get away.
Katherines’ husband, Nigel Hawke is the owner of Thorne Farm Racing, a successful training yard run within the grounds of Hawke Barn. Nigel trains 50 beautiful National Hunt racehorses from a separate yard at Thorne Farm. The horses can be seen training every day on the grass and all-weather gallops. With over 40 years’ experience in racing, Nigel has a well-earned reputation for sourcing and nurturing future talent both for owners and the yards racing club. We always have a selection of good quality horses for sale at Thorne Farm and can offer good rates for horses that will stay in training at our facility. Horses are available for outright purchase or via shared ownership via the Nigel Hawke Racing Club. For the racehorse enthusiast, Nigel can tailor racehorse ownership packages to suit all budgets but if you just want a taste of how being an active participant of the nation’s second larger sport could feel, Nigel offers Racehorse Experience Days with the help of Simon Nott our local racing journalist and pundit.
