Hi, I'm Chris Bucksey, the local franchisee for Fox Cycling in Somerset.
As a stay-at-home dad turned business owner, I'm passionate about helping children, families and communities discover the benefits of cycling and active travel.
Through partnerships with schools, nurseries, community groups and families, I work to remove barriers that stop children from cycling, whether that's confidence, skills, equipment or simply not knowing where to start. My goal isn't just to teach children to ride a bike; it's to help create positive experiences, build confidence, encourage independence and increase participation in active travel across our communities.
So far this year, I've helped 44 children learn to ride independently, while also supporting schools and community organisations to make cycling more accessible and inclusive.
I believe cycling has the power to connect communities, improve physical and mental wellbeing, and give children a sense of freedom that can stay with them for life. That's why I'm always keen to collaborate with local organisations, schools, businesses and community groups who share a passion for creating healthier, more active communities.

This offer has been created to support local business owners, their teams, and their families, while giving Chamber members a real experience of what Fox Cycling does and the impact the right support can have.
Fox Cycling helps parents turn worry into confident children on two wheels, but this offer can also be used by adults who would like calm, supportive help learning to ride.
The package starts with a Pedal Ready Assessment. This is a short one-to-one session where we check whether the learner is physically and cognitively ready to move onto pedals.
We look at balance, gliding, steering, stopping, confidence, bike control, listening skills, and whether the learner is ready to process the movement needed for pedalling safely and confidently.
At the end of the assessment, you will be given clear, practical guidance on the best next steps. If the learner is not quite pedal ready yet, you will know exactly what to practise to help build confidence, balance, bike control, and readiness before moving onto pedals.
If the learner is ready, they then move into CycleKids or one-to-one learn-to-ride support. This is designed to help them progress calmly and confidently towards independent cycling, using the right method, the right equipment, and the right level of support.
