Bridgwater Docks to Illuminate with Luke Jerram’s Spectacular “Fallen Moon” Installation

Tuesday 8th October, 2024

Bridgwater Docks will soon be home to an exciting art installation by renowned artist Luke Jerram. The “Fallen Moon” project, part of Jerram’s latest touring artwork, will make its first UK appearance in this stunning visual experience.

From 14th October to 3rd November 2024, this 10-metre-diameter replica of the Moon, created using NASA data, will be illuminated on the water at Bridgwater Docks, showcasing incredible detail of the Moon’s surface. The experience will be enhanced with a surround sound composition by BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones, providing an atmospheric backdrop to the display. The animation will take place daily from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Alongside the “Fallen Moon,” several events and activities will run during this time. These include an introduction to the project by Jerram himself, live music performances, a night market, and stargazing sessions with the chance to see planets like Saturn and Jupiter through telescopes.

Families can also enjoy planetarium shows, and there’s even an illuminated Carnival Moon event to close the celebration on 1st and 2nd November.

This event promises to be a magical fusion of art, science, and community, offering something for everyone. For more details on the schedule and to learn more about this unique experience, visit the Bridgwater Town Deal website.
