Local Business Gadsby, the UK’s leading supplier of gift packaging & retail display, achieves B Corp certification

Wednesday 24th April, 2024

Gadsby’s decision to focus on people and the planet on the same level as profit has been recognised. The team is excited to announce that in its 160th year, Gadsby is now a Certified B Corporation.

B Corp is a global community pledging to use business as a force for good. Gadsby joins more than 8000 B Corp businesses, operating in 162 industries, across 96 countries who have undertaken a stringent assessment process to become Certified B Corporations. The assessment measures a business’s ongoing impact on its workers, community, customers, governance and the environment. Gadsby achieved an impact score of 93.4 from B Lab – well above the minimum requirement of 80.

The driving ambition for Gadsby is to become better for people, planet and product and they’re thrilled to reach this major milestone in their sustainability journey. B Corp certification means that they have been verified as meeting B Lab high standards for social and environmental impact.

“As Gadsby grows so does our responsibility to lead as a force for good,” comments Managing Director, Will Gadsby. “We have been in the industry for 160 years and have grown from a retail store to a global manufacturing and sourcing company. We wouldn’t have received this certification without the hard work of our team. Everyone throughout our supply chain has worked incredibly hard to reach this goal.”

Will continues, “This B Corp Certification helps to move us forward, honouring our mission to create fantastic products for a range of brands and industries; and cementing our commitment to environmental sustainability. We’re excited to be joining a network of like-minded organisations, certification is only the beginning for us.”

To stay committed to this work Gadsby must meet rising standards for social and environmental performance. To maintain certification, the team will undertake the assessment and verification process every three years. This is to demonstrate that they’re still meeting B Lab high standards.
