Somerset-based Top 200 law firm expands presence in Devon with new offices in Exeter

Monday 7th October, 2024

Porter Dodson, the Somerset-based UK Top 200 law firm, has announced that it has opened a new office at the heart of Exeter to meet increased demand for its services in the city and Devon.

Having outgrown its former Southernhay offices, Porter Dodson is expanding into significantly larger premises at 11-15 Dix’s Field. The move allows the firm to accommodate a string of senior appointments and an increase in its core Exeter team from eight to over twenty.

The newly refurbished offices – well known for their Georgian façade – incorporate open plan working areas, a conference room and several private client meeting rooms.

Targeting further growth, the firm, which has a range of national and international clients, is actively looking to add to its team of private client, corporate and commercial solicitors not only in Exeter, but also at its offices in Wellington, Taunton, Yeovil, Sherborne, Poundbury and Bridport.

David Culshaw, Partner in the Corporate Commercial team at Porter Dodson’s Exeter office, commented: “Our new, larger offices represent a significant investment in Exeter and our future here. They give us the space and facilities that we need to meet growing demand for our services.

“Unlike many other law firms, which are largely focused on commercial clients, we believe in a more holistic approach. For us, our focus is on building trusted, long-term relationships, where we help with matters that span both personal and business lives. From buying and selling a home to handling sensitive commercial matters and disputes, we provide collaborative, supportive, commercial and pragmatic solutions to our clients. It’s a point of difference that is proving popular in Devon and across the wider region.”

Kate James, Managing Partner at Porter Dodson, added: “We see Exeter as a key part of the firm’s future growth. Having recently increased to a team of over 200, the opening of our new Exeter office represents the next step in our plans to expand throughout Devon, Somerset and Dorset, delivering city-level, heavyweight expertise to clients across the South West.”
